Oskaloosa--The Lady Statesmen volleyball squad is looking at an uphill climb towards respect after Monday's Midwest Collegiate Conference's preseason rating was released.

William Penn, who was 19-23 (3-6 MCC) last year, earned the sixth-place slot out of seven teams in the league.

Defending regular season and tournament champion Grand View leads the group, while Viterbo is second. St. Ambrose owns the preseason bronze, while Mount Mercy is fourth and Clarke is fifth. Newcomer AIB rounds out the rating in seventh.

William Penn opens 2012 by playing at the Mount Mercy Invitational on Friday and Saturday, August 24-25.
