Vincent Beseau (Fr., Florissant, Mo., Hazelwood Central HS) tallied the first three goals of his collegiate career and helped the Penn men's soccer team to its first victory of 2005, earning him Midwest Classic Conference Co-Player of the Week honors, announced Tuesday.
Beseau scored one goal in a 4-1 loss to Taylor (Ind.), Tuesday, and two (including the game-winner) in a 6-0 shutout against Crossroads Bible (Minn.), Saturday, to lead the team with six points overall in 2005. Penn is now 1-7 on the year.
The freshman is the first player to earn the league honor since Joe Druppel (Ft. Madison, Aquinas HS) collected the award on November 5, 2004. Druppel tallied a school-record five goals against Upper Iowa and also had two assists in the first round of the MCC Tournament against Ashford.
