Oskaloosa--William Penn women's soccer players Graciela Belmontes (Sr., Salinas, Calif., Biology) and Francis Lee (Jr., Fort Dodge, Iowa, Exercise Science) were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2016 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes Friday.

Lee, with a 3.61 Grade Point Average, and Belmontes, at a 3.57 GPA, were among a list of 578 women's soccer players from within the NAIA to be awarded the laurel.  Both are first-time recipients of the academic accolade.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
