Fairview Heights, Ill.--The Statesmen men's bowling team used contributions from everyone to post a strong performance at the McKendree Baker Challenge Saturday and Sunday.

William Penn placed third out of 20 teams with 7,819 pins in 10 sets of Bakers, while Webber International (Fla.) won qualifying with 8,111 pins.  The weekend served as a preview to postseason play for WPU as the xBowling Team Sectionals and Nationals are contested entirely in Baker format.

Unfortunately, the third-seeded Statesmen were upset by #6 Lindenwood 2-1 in the quarterfinals of bracket play.  #2 seed Wichita State defeated Webber International in the championship round.

Team members included Quincy Bruce (Jr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, General Accounting), David Decker (Fr., Peyton, Colo., Physical Education), Stian Hoff (Sr., Orkanger, Norway, General Accounting), Ryan Howard (Sr., King, N.C., Industrial Technology), Bret Keimig (Jr., Davenport, Iowa, Physical Education), Curtis Majka (Jr., Elgin, Ill., Mechanical Engineering), Lucas Perdieu (Sr., DeWitt, Iowa, General Accounting), and Nick Walker (So., Zeeland, Mich., Business Management).

WPU had a JV squad in action as well and the Statesmen finished sixth out of 15 squads in the JV standings with 7,184 pins.

JV team members included Cody Adair (Sr., Kearns, Utah, Undecided), Braxton Coble (So., Ottumwa, Iowa, Business Management), Josh Fane (Fr., Brownsville, Wis., Business Management and Accounting), Jason Forsyth (So., Weatherford, Texas, Psychology and Human Services), Josh Kragh (Fr., Minot, N.D., General Accounting), Ryan Racimo (Sr. Olympia, Wash., Exercise Science),
Kyle Reese (Sr., Chicago, Ill., Psychology and Sociology), and Rylie Reidel (Jr., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management).

Next Up: William Penn concludes its regular season Saturday and Sunday by traveling to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in the Backhaul Direct Hoosier Classic.
