Wade Steinlage is in his sixth year as sports information director and fourth year as co-head coach of the men's golf team at William Penn.
He has guided three players to all-Midwest Collegiate Conference Tournament teams and one player, Cole Reiman, to an all-MCC award. Reiman won the 2008 MCC Tournament to be the fifth league champion in school history.
His teams have placed in the top five in the MCC in his first three campaigns.
Steinlage comes to Penn from
Angelo State University in
San Angelo, Texas, where he spent one year as an intern in the sports information office. At
Angelo State, he was the primary contact for women's soccer, volleyball, men's basketball, and softball.
Steinlage serves as the primary media contact for all Statesmen and Lady Statesmen athletic programs. His responsibilities include producing media guides and game programs, doing statistical work at all home contests, interacting with media and other SID offices, updating the athletics web site, writing previews and recaps of events, and other duties as assigned.
Steinlage was introduced to the Sports Information world as a student worker at
Central College in
Pella from 2001-2003. Prior to that experience, he was a sports writer for the Oskaloosa Herald and Pella Chronicle newspapers in 2001. He also interned for the West Ealing Newspaper Group in
London.
The West Union, Iowa, native received his bachelor's degree in communication and sociology from
Central College in May of 2003. He resides in Oskaloosa with his wife Jodi, a 2006 graduate of William Penn, and their daughter Whitney, who was born in December 2009.
