Brian Spielbauer is in his eighth season as head women's basketball coach.
Spielbauer, who owns a career record of 82-138, led the 2009-2010 Lady Statesmen team to its first winning season since 1993-1994 and the most wins (17) for the program since 1989-1990.
He has guided 13 all-conference players and two All-Americans. Academically, he has coached 34 academic all-conference individuals and eight NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Prior to his head coaching assignment, Spielbauer began his coaching career at Penn as an assistant men's basketball coach for one year.
Spielbauer, who played three years for Penn's men's basketball program, graduated from the University in 1996 with a physical education major and minors in health and biology. After graduation, he taught and coached at the high school level for two years at DeWitt and Corydon. At Corydon, Spielbauer was head boy's basketball coach and assistant football and baseball coach.
He then attended graduate school at Bemidji State in Bemidji, Minn., where he earned his M.S. in Sports Studies in 2002. While at BSU, Spielbauer served as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball program for two seasons.
Spielbauer also teaches part-time in the health and life sciences department. Originally from Guttenberg, Spielbauer currently resides in Oskaloosa with his wife Jennifer and their two daughters, Sydney and Allie.
