Buster Albertson is in his third year as head men's golf coach.
Albertson has helped coach three players to all-conference honors. His teams have also done well in the classroom with five individuals earning academic all-conference honors and two being named NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
A life-long golfer, Albertson most recently coached collegiately at Indian Hills Community College from 1988-1996. During that span, he led his squads to the NJCAA National Tournament every year and guided ten individuals to All-American status. Several players then furthered their games at the NCAA Division I level, playing at such schools as Northern Iowa, Iowa, Iowa State, Missouri, and others.
A strong competitor himself, Albertson has won the Ottumwa City Tournament and the Ottumwa Country Club Championship as well as the State Elks Championship on five separate occasions. He also claimed the State Junior Chamber of Commerce Championship title twice. Albertson has two hole-in-ones and six double-eagles to his credit.
He has played in more than 30 Iowa Open and Iowa Amateur Tournaments and was a member of the Board of Directors for the Iowa Golf Association for ten years.
Albertson, who is retired from John Deere in Ottumwa, is a veteran of the United States Air Force (1954-1958). He resides in Oskaloosa with his wife Pam and has five children and ten grandchildren.
