William Penn Places Eighth in 2025-2026 Commissioner’s Cup Standings
Oskaloosa--Fourteen teams finished in the top five in their league standings to help the William Penn athletics department to a solid finish as the final 2025-2026 Heart of America Athletic Conference VisitOP Commissioner's Cup standings were released last week.
The Statesmen placed eighth out of 15 institutions with a rating of .613, while Benedictine claimed the Cup at .740. MidAmerica Nazarene was in the runner-up spot at .725, while Grand took the bronze at .679.
The Commissioner's Cup is an all-sports award that further recognizes the achievements of its student-athletes and member institutions.
William Penn's eighth-place finish was headlined by a title in women's wrestling. The navy and gold also placed second in football, men's basketball, and men's lacrosse, while men's bowling ended up third at its championship event.
Fourth-place efforts came from men's soccer, women's bowling, men's volleyball, cheerleading, and men's outdoor track and field, while fifth place was secured by men's cross country, men's indoor track and field, softball, and women's golf.
The Heart's 15 schools earn points for the Cup for their finish in 27 Heart-sponsored sports. That list includes: men's cross country, women's cross country, women's volleyball, football, men's soccer, women's soccer, women's basketball, men's basketball, men's indoor track and field, women's indoor track and field, men's volleyball, men's wrestling, women's wrestling, cheerleading, dance, men's bowling, women's bowling, baseball, softball, men's golf, women's golf, men's lacrosse, women's lacrosse, men's tennis, women's tennis, men's outdoor track and field, and women's outdoor track and field.

For example, as the Heart's women's wrestling champion, William Penn earned 10 points out of 10 teams competing.

To compile the final Cup standings, each school's percentage in each sport they compete in is added up and divided by the amount of total sports in which they compete. Final results are an average cumulative finish for each institution in every Heart sport that they sponsor.
