As A Statesmen:

As a defensive back, he was named all-conference twice and all-district his senior year. During his four year football career, the Statesmen compiled a record of 35-7-1 and won two Iowa Conference titles. Played in the Boot Hill Bowl. Was on the only Penn team to compete in the NAIA playoffs.
