Ten Garner Scholar-Athlete Recognition
Oskaloosa--A total of 10 Statesmen cheerleaders were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2025-2026 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
Olivia Muir (Jr., Oskaloosa, Iowa, Psychology) and Jadin Bennett (Jr., Bloomfield, Iowa, Elementary Education) lead the navy and gold athletes with 3.96 Grade Point Averages entering this spring. Jaden Creech (Jr., Bloomfield, Iowa, Exercise Science) is also above the 3.9 mark at 3.94.
Grace McCumber (Jr., Manitou Springs, Colo., Nursing) is next at 3.87, while Madison Langenfield (So., Oswego, Ill., Secondary Education) followed with a 3.82, and Halle Garringer (Jr., Sigourney, Iowa, Elementary Education) has a 3.80.
Zoe Roberts (So., Montezuma, Iowa, English) (3.77), Lexie Current (Sr., Gilman, Iowa) (3.72), Madelynn Zehr (So., Manchester, Iowa, Exercise Science) (3.61), and Emma Hynick (Sr., Monticello, Iowa, Human Services) (3.52) also find their way onto the list.
This marks the third time Current has received the honor, while Muir, Creech, McCumber, and Bennett are being honored for the second time. The remaining Statesmen are all first-time honorees.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
