Penn Football Ranked 28th in Postseason Poll
Oskaloosa--The Statesmen football squad enters its offseason as one of the top teams in the NAIA as the division's top 25 coaches postseason poll was released by the national office Monday.
Penn (7-4, 5-2 MWL) received five votes to be unofficially 28th in the division. The Statesmen earned one more vote to improve one position since the final regular season poll. Penn had one of the best seasons in school history, winning the most games in a single campaign since 1976.
Sioux Falls (S.D.) (11-1) leads the national poll after claiming the NAIA national title with a 23-7 victory over Carroll (Mont.) in December. The Cougars have either been No. 1 or No. 2 for the last 32 consecutive polls.
Carroll is second, while Lindenwood (Mo.), St. Francis (Ind.), and Morningside round out the top five.
Midwest League champion St. Ambrose is the only other team from the Midwest League to be ranked in the postseason rating, holding the #14 position. The Fighting Bees were defeated by Sioux Falls 28-0 in the first round of this year's NAIA playoffs.
