Silvis, Ill.--The William Penn men's golf team resumed its autumn season by competing at the Grand View Invitational Monday and Tuesday.

WPU finished ninth out of 12 teams with a two-round score of 617 (315-302) at the par-71 Otter Creek Golf Course.  Nebraska Wesleyan topped the field at 582 (289-293).

Grand View led the individual standings with Gabe Beardsley (69-70) and Harrison Froling (70-69) tying for first at three-under 139.

Francois Assaud (Sr., Montelimar, France, Sports Management) paced the Statesmen by tying for 12th out of 75 players at 147 (76-71).

Luke Galeazzi (Sr., Knoxville, Iowa, Business Management) was next for the navy and gold, tying for 28th at 152 (79-73), while Andon Herrera (So., Katy, Texas, Business Management) tied for 32nd at 153 (77-76).

Tyler Pedretti (Fr., Upland, Calif., Business Management), in 65th at 167 (85-82), and Clay Morse (So., Sigourney, Iowa, Business Management), in 66th at 168 (83-85), concluded WPU's varsity scoring.

Kinnick Pritchard (Fr., Newton, Iowa) also held his own as an individual linkster, tying for 60th at 162 (84-78).

"We faced a good level of competition this week," Head Coach Elise Ibrahim said.  "The usual suspects of Francois Assaud, Luke Galeazzi, and Andon Herrera all played well.  We are satisfied with our results, however, and want to be more consistent as a team.  While it was not the easiest course to play, we know we left a lot of shots out there.  We now shift our sights to next week where we look to improve on last spring's efforts against the rest of the conference."

Next Up: William Penn wraps up the fall campaign by traveling to Overland Park, Kan. next Monday and Tuesday to compete in the Heart Preview.  Play will be contested at Nicklaus Golf Club.
