Area Pro Fisher Named New Golf Coach

Oskaloosa--William Penn University Athletics Director Aleesha Rabedeaux is proud to announce the hiring of Darin Fisher as the new Head Men's and Women's Golf Coach.

A life-long golfer, Fisher was the head boys and girls golf coach at Moravia High School from 2009-2023.  While at the helm, he led six boys squads to districts and four girls teams to regionals.

"Darin's extensive experience as both a coach and a professional golfer makes him a tremendous addition to our staff," Rabedeaux said.  "His passion for the game and commitment to developing student-athletes will be invaluable as he leads our golf programs into the future."

Professionally, Fisher has spent most of his career as a Golf Professional, with his longest employment (2008-2023) coming at The Preserve on Rathbun Lake.  He has also worked at Bos Landen, Willow Creek, The Amana Colonies, and Sedalia (Mo.) golf courses.  He earned his PGA membership in 2007.

A graduate of Central College in 1997 with a degree in Business Management/Marketing, he was a Second-Team All-American in college.

Fisher has enjoyed a successful playing career, beginning with advancing to the PGA Tour's Stage II Qualifying school in 2004.  He has qualified for the PGA National Championship 11 times (made four cuts, best finish of 26th in 2021), while being a two-time John Deere Classic participant in 2017 and 2019.

Additionally, Fisher finished 24th in the PGA of America's National Player of the Year rankings in 2018, while winning two Iowa PGA Section titles (2016, 2018).  He has also claimed three Iowa PGA Match Play crowns, while taking home two Herman Sani Tournament victories.

Fisher is a current member of the Iowa PGA Board, serving as the Tournament Co-Chair.

"I truly appreciate the opportunity Aleesha has offered me," Fisher said.  "I am humbled and excited to coach at William Penn.  My goal is to build on the momentum Coach Elise Ibrahim has created within the programs and help our student-athletes perform and be successful."
