Beaver, Weaver Sweep Heart Honors

Beaver, Weaver Sweep Heart Honors

Oskaloosa--D'Artagnon Beaver (Sr., Rockford, Ill., Human Services) and Anthony Weaver (So., Demopolis, Ala., Mechanical Engineering) both produced at a high level last weekend and were named the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week Monday.

Beaver won the Track honor for the second time in his track career (he also has five cross country accolades), while Weaver earned the Field laurel for his first career award.  The duo paced William Penn at the St. Ambrose Battle in the Hive last Saturday.

Beaver won the 3,000-meter run in 8:49.44 and was second in the one-mile run in 4:24.26.  Already a national qualifier in the 5,000-meter run, he currently leads the league in the mile, 3,000, and 5,000.

Weaver earned the triple jump title last weekend with a national-qualifying ('A' standard) mark of 48-7.25.  He finished ninth in the long jump (21-0) as well.  The sophomore currently heads the Heart in the triple jump.

WPU now has two weekly awards this year.
