Higginbotham, West Sweep Weekly Accolades

Higginbotham, West Sweep Weekly Accolades

Oskaloosa--A pair of athletes stood head and shoulders above the rest last weekend, helping them to be named Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Indoor Track and Field Athletes of the Week Monday, presented by 516 Sports Capital.

Koby Higginbotham (Fr., Knoxville, Iowa, Exercise Science) claimed the Track award for the first time in his career, while Xzavion West (Sr., Guthrie, Ky., Psychology) earned the Field honor for the second-straight week and the third time this winter (fourth of his career).  The duo received the recognition after their successful outings at the Northwest Missouri State Bearcat Invitational last Saturday.

Higginbotham won the 60-meter hurdles title in a school-record and automatic national-qualifying time of 7.92 seconds.  He currently ranks second in the NAIA.

West, who is already a national qualifier in both of his throwing disciplines, was fifth in the weight throw at 60-6.5 and ninth in the shot put at 52-6.  He currently sits sixth nationally in the weight throw and 11th in the shot put.

West ranks first in the Heart in both events, while Higginbotham is second in the league in the hurdles.

The weekly laurels are the third and fourth of the season for William Penn.
