William Penn to Discontinue Women's Lacrosse
OSKALOOSA-- William Penn University will no longer sponsor a women's lacrosse program, effective immediately.
William Penn has sponsored women's lacrosse for five seasons, with varsity competition beginning during the 2019-2020 school year.
Throughout the five years, the Statesmen competed in two different conferences: the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference (KCAC) from 2020-2022 and the Heart of America Conference (Heart) from 2023-2024. The Statesmen would reach the KCAC quarterfinals twice (2020 season canceled due to COVID-19 outbreak) and the Heart semifinals in both seasons.
During its KCAC tenure, the Statesmen garnered one first-team selection, four second-team selections and six scholar-athletes.
Upon joining the Heart Conference following the 2022 season, the Statesmen tallied five first-team selections, two second-team selections and 10 NAIA scholar-athletes during the two years. During the 2024 campaign, William Penn would finish with a 2-8 record, falling to the Benedictine Ravens during the 2024 Heart of America Conference semifinal tournament game. The Statesmen would accumulate four scholar-athletes and two All-Heart second-team selections.
