Six Receive CSC Academic All-District Awards
Oskaloosa--Six members of the William Penn women's soccer team have been honored for strong 2023 seasons in and out of the classroom as they earned academic all-district honors from College Sports Communicators.
Madeline Danielson (Jr., La Crescent, Minn., Biology) and Jacque Schwager (Jr., Bondurant, Iowa, Psychology) headlined the group with 4.00 Grade Point Averages entering this fall.
Joy Pagel (So., Maring-Noviand, Germany, Psychology) was next at 3.90, while Abi Moers (Sr., Evergreen, Colo., Psychology) was right behind her at 3.89. Lacie Kirkle (Jr., Altoona, Iowa, Business Management) (3.74) and Lilly Cote (So., Sioux City, Iowa, Undecided) (3.70) were also lauded.
In 16 starts as the Statesmen goalkeeper, Danielson owned a 4-11-1 record with a 3.13 Goals Against Average. She managed 73 saves with a .613 save percentage.
Schwager started in all 16 of her games with three assists, while Pagel managed one assist in 15 games played. Moers (15 games, 15 starts), Kirkle (16 games, 16 starts), and Cote (15 starts in 16 games) all assisted three times this fall.
The award combines both athletic and academic achievements. To be eligible for the award, individuals must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, have been enrolled at the nominating institution for one year (transfers use grades from their previous institution), and have a 3.50 Grade Point Average. Additionally, individuals must compete in 90% of games or start in at least 66% of games.
