Commins Stepping Away from Head Coaching Role

Oskaloosa-- William Penn Athletics Director Aleesha Rabedeaux has announced that Andy Commins has resigned as head coach of the women's soccer program.

Commins, who is leaving for personal reasons, served as WPU's head coach the previous three campaigns, owning a 13-34-2 record during that time, including an 8-25-2 mark in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

"William Penn has been an amazing place to work," Commins said.  "The staff is so professional and everyone is focused on the same thing--student success.  My heart is heavy knowing that I will be leaving my players to take on my family responsibilities, but I find peace in knowing I am making the right decision and that my team will be in very capable and supportive hands."

During his tenure, Commins coached 28 NAIA Scholar-Athletes, 22 Heart Scholar-Athletes, and one all-Heart performer.

"We appreciate everything Coach Commins has done for our women's soccer program," Rabedeaux said.  "He has shown incredible dedication to his players both on and off the field, and his commitment to their academic and athletic growth has been exemplary.  We wish him all the best as he steps away to focus on his family.  The search for a new head coach will begin immediately, and we are confident in the future success of our program."

William Penn will begin a national search for a new head coach immediately.
