Oskaloosa--The William Penn women's soccer team was unable to convert its chances in a 2-0 loss to Briar Cliff in non-conference play Saturday.
The Statesmen (1-2-1) dictated much of the attack, holding a 12-7 shot edge and a 5-2 advantage in shots on goal. The Chargers (1-2-0), however, capitalized on both of their attempts to earn the win.
William Penn created several opportunities in the first half but couldn't find the net. Briar Cliff broke the deadlock at the 39:45 mark and carried a 1-0 lead into the break.
The Chargers added to their cushion in the 76th minute. WPU pressed forward with five second-half shots but came away empty.
Lilly Cote (Sr., Sioux City, Iowa, Psychology) led the way with three shots, while Sian Bah (Sr., London, England, Political Science) chipped in two attempts.
