Dozen Represent WPU on NAIA Scholar-Athlete List
Oskaloosa--A total of 12 Statesmen women's wrestlers were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2025-2026 Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athletes.
The trio of Maeley Elsbury (So., Chelsea, Iowa, Psychology), Esther Kolawole (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology), and Christianah Ogunsanya (So., Akure, Nigeria, Kinesiology) lead the navy and gold athletes with perfect 4.0 Grade Point Averages entering this spring.
Lily Zapata (So., Lewisville, Texas, Psychology) is also above the 3.90 mark at 3.95.
Kendall Bostelman (Sr., Napoleon, Ohio, Kinesiology) is next at 3.85, while Naida Abdijanovic (Sr., St. Louis, Mo., Biology), Bronwyn Brenneman (Sr., Parnell, Iowa, Biology) and Kylee Eastwood (Sr., Fontana, Kansas, Biology) have GPAs of 3.82, 3.68, and 3.65, respectively.
Rachel Cotter (Sr., Katy, Texas, Accounting) (3.64), Isabelle Hawley (Sr., Winchester, Calif., Sociology) (3.62), Devin Patton (Sr., Plano, Texas, Business Management) (3.61), and Tyler Swanigan (So., Northville, Mich., Nursing) (3.53) also find their way onto the list.
This marks the third time Cotter has received the honor. Patton and Eastwood are being honored for the second time, while the remaining Statesmen are all first-time honorees.
To be eligible for the award, athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, have attended the nominating institution for one full year prior to nomination, and must appear on the sport's eligibility paperwork.
