The William Penn men's lacrosse team seeks to remain a national contender as it goes into the 2026 season.

Luke Christiansen, in his seventh year at the helm, led the Statesmen to a 12-4 record (9-0 Heart) last spring.  The navy and gold swept the Heart of America Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles.

NAIA Third-Team All-Americans Kenny Bohney (Sr., Moorhead, Minn., Exercise Science) and Blake Cyboron (Sr., Council Bluffs, Iowa, Industrial Technology) are back to pace the squad, while five other individuals return after picking up all-Heart recognition in 2025.

Faceoff Specialist

Bryce Campbell (Sr., Boise, Idaho, Exercise Science) was his team's top man in the circle, going 172-for-237 (72.6%) last spring.  He also notched 75 ground balls, while scoring twice and assisting once.

Attacker

Garrett Katrana (So., Parker, Colo., Industrial Technology) leads all returners in goals (50) and assists (41), in addition to 32 ground balls and seven caused turnovers.

Everett Breniser (So., Centennial, Colo., Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management) will also be a major option at the top with 29 goals and 18 assists (20 ground balls) as a freshman.

Katrana and Breniser were both second-team all-Heart honorees last year.

Offensive Midfielder

Bohney enters his final campaign looking for even bigger numbers after recording 65 points (42 goals, 23 assists) in 2025.  He also tallied 63 ground balls and six caused turnovers.

Nate Levy (So., Lynwood, Wash., Biology), another second-team all-league pick in 2025, will add significant depth after posting five goals, four assists, 27 ground balls, and seven caused turnovers.

Defensive Midfielder

Cyboron was such an impact player in the midfield that he earned All-America honors, despite only playing eight games.  Statistically, he had two goals, one assist, 10 ground balls, and four caused turnovers.

Max Barr (Jr., West Des Moines, Iowa, Business Management) is slated to earn much more play this spring after scoring one goal with three ground balls and two caused turnovers as a junior.

Defender

A 2023 all-Heart performer, Bradley Howell (Sr., Layton, Utah, Psychology) joins 2025 all-Heart honoree Drew Swanson (Fr., West Des Moines, Iowa, Industrial Technology) to guide the defensive unit.

Howell tops all WPU returners with 18 caused turnovers, while Swanson forced 13 takeaways in his first collegiate campaign.

Goalkeeper

Connor Russell (Sr., Grand Haven, Mich., Applied Computer Science) missed much of last year due to injury, but once he got on the field, he was dominant in front of the cage.  The senior, who owned a 5-1 record in 2025, permitted just 7.32 goals per game and tallied 56 saves.

Schedule

WPU's season starts Monday against Heart foe Ottawa in Ottawa, Kan. for a non-conference battle.  The squad's six-game home schedule will open on March 7 against Indiana Tech.

Ranked No. 7 in the NAIA to begin the spring, William Penn is expected to defend the 10-team Heart crown.
