Statesmen Fall to #7 Eagles

Fayette, Mo.--The William Penn women's basketball team was not able to match up with #7 Central Methodist Wednesday, falling 91-49 in Heart of America Athletic Conference action.

WPU (0-13, 0-4 Heart) was outshot 50.0%-23.5% by the Eagles (9-1, 1-2 Heart), who had just been cleared to play after being in COVID protocol last week.

CMU scored the first 11 points of the night and never looked back, eventually leading 24-8 after the first quarter and 45-15 at intermission.

Down 65-27 entering the final 10 minutes of play, the navy and gold nearly matched their point total from the first three stanzas, posting 22 points in the fourth quarter.

Amanee Clark (So., Waterloo, Iowa, Human Services) topped William Penn with 13 points, while Zantasia White (Jr., Lubbock, Texas, Secondary Education) also hit double digits with 11 points.

Journie Augmon (Jr., Las Vegas, Nev., Human Services) was next with nine points, while Emma Morts (Jr., Milford, Ill., Business Management) posted a seven-point effort.

Ally Stewart (Jr., Victoria, Australia, Physical Education) contributed five points and also matched Augmon with a squad-high seven rebounds.

The three assists from Morgan Terry (Jr., Cornersville, Tenn., Biology) were a team high.

The Statesmen were a strong 10-for-12 at the line and connected on seven three-pointers, but were outrebounded 56-34 and committed 17 turnovers. WPU did force Central Methodist into 15 mistakes in the setback.
